Director of Supply Chain

We’re seeking a Director of Supply Chain who is a self-starter and team manager who is goal oriented, as well as people oriented. The successful candidate must also have demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This person will have a high energy level and a strong sense of personal and business integrity. This individual should be a tactical, strategic and problem-solving planning professional who can successfully apply their experience, judgment and creativity to both short-term and long-term situations. Needs to be able to lead and motivate an organization to meet its objectives. Must be able to coordinate and manage multiple tasks, functions and relationships at the same time. This individual must be adaptable to different situations and personalities and must demonstrate a hands-on approach, leading by example to quickly earn the respect of their staff and superiors as well as the confidence of the company’s business partners.

Job Description Summary

The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for all supply, demand and customer service functions required to produce and maintain target, finished stock levels for the company’s line of animal health care products.  Working in a non-manufacturing “virtual” environment, producing products through contract manufacturers and packagers, the Director of Supply Chain will manage product flow with current contractors, and assess their capabilities to supply the company’s products in cooperation with the Sourcing Manager, Director of Quality & Technical Services and Quality staff.   The Director of Supply Chain directs and coordinates the planning, forecasting, purchasing, and business reporting of the Company’s products in an efficient manner. This role is based in the East Longmeadow office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs the forecasting and fulfillment activities of the contract manufacturers in the production of all Company products in accordance with negotiated supply agreements and pricing and with established specifications for quality and quantity, while also maintaining a good working relationship, balancing the contract partner’s needs for EOQ’s and fair profits with the company’s need for cost containment.
  • Maintain a close and amicable working relationship between the contract manufacturers and WFY operations personnel to ensure the free flow of accurate and reliable information concerning the production and availability of product.
  • Direct the Supply Chain Planner in the MRP planning and execution of materials and supplies needed in support of customer demand and forecast requirements
  • Oversee ERP/MRP settings and activities to include Safety stock, lead-time and master item updates.  Looks to advance ERP capabilities and reporting.
  • In collaboration with the Inventory and Logistics Manager on network replenishment needs, strategy and the distribution of finished products to regional warehouses.  Develop inventory controls and recommend changes in inventory policy.
  • Manage the company’s customer service function and personnel, assuring company is delivering positive and effective customer experience to its direct customers and product consumers.
  • Lead demand planning & collaboration with Supply Chain & Finance for S&OP alignment
  • Track forecast accuracy (MAPE) and look to improve forecasting by key customers, channels and/or key product families.
  • Runs the monthly Supply S&OP meeting to report trends, identify gaps and resolve issues in support of sku level forecast, inventory coverage and business health.
  • Prepare periodic Business Reviews for Key Contractors detailing Spend, OTIF performance, pricing history and SWOT analysis
  • Supports the innovation & marketing teams in the development of new products and changes to existing products.  Works with Sales and Demand Planner to develop new product forecasting at sku, customer and/or channel level.
  • Participate as needed in executive discussions of new and reformulated products, packaging changes, labeling and scheduling of product promotions or introductions.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual operations budgets, including establishing annual standard cost of goods and related manufacturing expenses.
  • Periodically evaluate production problems and recommend changes in practices and procedures to improve company/contractor production efficiency and costs.
  • Assist Supply Chain Planner in establishing disposition of obsolete, rejected and excess inventories.
  • Monitor and work to optimize finished goods inventory levels.  Ensure ERP is up to date with most current setting relating to lead times, safety stock and MOQ data. Collaborate with Director of Quality & Technical Services on new product development. 
  • As needed, prepare periodic Business Reviews for Key contractors detailing Spend, OTIF performance, pricing history and SWOT analysis.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team; Develop SOPs and training materials to standardize best practices.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, operations, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in operations, preferably within a CPG environment.
  • Strong understanding of operational processes in a multi-channel CPG model.
  • Understanding of the FDA, EPA, and Health Canada manufacturing requirements preferred
  • Proficient in automated MRP and product forecasting/demand systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of contract manufacturing, negotiations and change management.
  • Strong project management skills and a bias for execution.
  • Collaborative leader who thrives in a high-growth environment.

Salary Range: $140,000 – $160,000 *compensation based on candidate’s experience*

Brand Manager – Pet Division

We’re seeking a Brand Manager for our Pet Division who will build strategy, collaborate on new product development, execute omni-channel brand plans & promotions, and be the product expert for assigned brands to drive sales. The ideal candidate must have experience managing a large brand portfolio, have a customer-first focus, be curious and always open to learning, be a team-player, have strong organizational skills, positive energy and a good sense of humor.

Job Description Summary

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Marketing & Innovation, the Brand Manager plays a key role on our marketing team, driving excitement, sustainable growth, and customer loyalty for leading animal health brands. Thie role also will collaborate on new product development and partner with sales to drive results.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Helps guide the strategy for assigned brands and is responsible for creating brand plans, media and content calendars, and promotional programs in support of company goals
  • Owns P&L management of assigned brands to achieve sales and profitability goals and works with the team to adjusts strategic approaches and plans to address market challenges and capitalize on opportunities as they arise
  • Analyzes sales and brand performance reports and distills information into insights and recommended actions to drive growth for the brands and products
  • Responsible for the execution of brand plans through collaboration with team members and agency partners for marketing communications, advertising, social media, content creation, PR, promotions, and related functions including the development of creative briefs, scheduling, production, distribution, and expense management necessary to execute plans
  • Runs day-to-day relationship with agency partners for assigned brands to execute tactics outlined in annual brand plans, manages internal approvals, tracks budgets, and ensures all consumer facing communications are regulatory compliant
  • Analyzes performance of marketing campaigns and uses data and insights to optimize creative and adjust tactics to achieve campaign goals
  • Helps build annual marketing budgets, sales forecasts, and promotional budgets
  • Acts as the expert for the product lines within assigned brands and is the go-to person for knowledge on product features and benefits, usage, competitors, market size, consumer and trade sentiment, and trends that may affect the product or brand, and serves as the advocate for maintaining the highest standards of product quality and the consumer experience
  • Provides omni-channel support for sales through product training, creation and distribution of point of purchase materials, content creation, account-based marketing support, and tradeshow support
  • Ensures timely communications across the organization regarding new product launches, advertising campaigns, promotions, and consumer feedback
  • Participates in the Innovation Team to seek out & evaluate new products, product improvements and supports product development as the brand expert and voice of the consumer throughout the development process
  • Researches and prepares strategic market assessments and competitive profiles for existing business, new market opportunities, and new products
  • Attends key meetings and events to enhance partnerships, provide support for marketing initiatives, evaluate effectiveness of promotional programs, support sales growth, support new product development, and to gain competitive and market insights
  • Fields consumer and trade questions (calls, emails, social media, etc.) for products and provides support and training to the Customer Service team in support of best-in-class service with assigned brands
  • Travels to and participates in consumer shows and trade shows to drive awareness, education, and sales of brands and products

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business – Marketing degree preferred
  • 5+ years of marketing experience in brand management – consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment and animal health care experience highly preferred
  • Experience managing a brand portfolio of $10+ million in revenue.
  • Passion for animals and comfort working around them
  • Financial acumen, including ability to analyze P&L’s and sales reports
  • Analytical skills and the ability to turn information in actional insights
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Project leadership skills and the ability to prioritize high impact initiatives
  • Highly developed problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to hold yourself and others accountable for deadlines and deliverables
  • Must be a team player and enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to act as an expert and advocate to champion projects and initiatives
  • Knowledge of PC; Microsoft Office; including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Salary Range: $95,000 – $110,000 *compensation based on candidate’s experience*
